A tower or pylon improves the amount of air (height and distance of your jump) you can get jumping over a boat wake. On a standard 1-3 feet high pylon or tow bar, the rope will actually pull you down. The new towers and pylons are 5-7 feet high above the water. Now when you jump the rope will actually pull you up into the air, giving you big air and jumps that last longer.
